I've been working on another French battalion, this time Airfix line infantry, mostly from the Waterloo Infantry set but with the Grenadiers converted from the artillery set. It takes quite a few sets to get this many marching figures.
These are really the only figure that I like from this set - the rest look dwarfish. But of course, they come with the cardinal error of holding their musket in the wrong arm, but too bad, they create a fine site when together.
The officers are a mix of Esci, Kennington, NewLine, Hinton Hunt and a few others.
Six companies each of sixty, eight drummers, colour party of three, two pioneers (need more), and 25 officers - 400 total.
I'm really grateful to Chris Dodson for some reinforcements to make this battalion complete.

Colour Party - the ensign is Qualicast. |

The drummers are Esci. The drum major is an Italeri conversion. The dog: don't all regiments need a regimental mascot? |

It's always good to see loads of Airfix French! They are still a fav. of mine/ours.
ReplyDeleteTruly a feast for the eyes! The addition of real sunlight really adds veracity to the entire scene. Wonderful diorama work.

Superb! The Airfix French infantry was a set many of us got started with back in the Seventies and they still look good.
ReplyDeleteLovely...
ReplyDeleteI remember when I used to dream of having that many marching Airfix Napoleonic French...;-)
All the best. Aly
Wonderful! I'm wondering now what you've got planned for all the other figures in the sets now.....
